Spanish startups revolutionize the automotive industry with innovative electric motors

Spain's automotive sector is experiencing a surge in growth, with Chinese brands setting up their first factories in the country. However, homegrown initiatives, such as Liux and INNengine, are making waves with their cutting-edge electric motors.

Liux's liux big: a revolutionary electric quadricycle

Liux, a startup led by Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros, has established its first production facility in Azuqueca de Henares, Guadalajara. The company is set to manufacture the Liux BIG, a lightweight, fully electric quadricycle with a range of up to 270 kilometers per charge. Priced under €18,000, the Liux BIG promises to shake up the urban transportation market.

Innengine: a spanish powerhouse in electric motors

Innengine: a spanish powerhouse in electric motors

INNengine, a 100% Spanish company based in Granada, has been making waves with its patented electric motor technology. The startup's innovative designs feature a novel combustion cycle and kinematics, with a compact architecture that rivals traditional internal combustion engines. Weighing just 38 kg, the e-REX motor can power electric vehicles and has the potential to replace conventional gasoline engines.

INNengine's motor lineup includes the REX-B, a compact 125cc motor producing 22.7 horsepower and 27 Nm of torque, and the more powerful e-REX, a 700cc motor delivering 120 horsepower and 244 Nm of torque. These motors are designed to work with a variety of fuels, including gasoline and hydrogen, opening up possibilities for hybrid systems and electric vehicle range extenders.

While Liux's Liux BIG is slated for production, and INNengine's motors have shown promise in prototype form, neither is yet available for purchase by individual consumers. However, the innovations being pioneered by these Spanish startups could have a significant impact on the future of the automotive industry.
