Spain's petrol prices soar amid global tensions
The cost of fuel in Spain has become a major concern for motorists, with prices surging since the outbreak of conflict in Iran. The upward trend doesn't appear to be slowing down, bringing the cost of refueling closer to the feared €2 per liter barrier.
Recurrent pump price hikes
In just a matter of days, both petrol and diesel have seen multiple consecutive price increases, driven primarily by tensions in international energy markets and the impact of the war involving Iran. Despite the fact that the fuel in the country was purchased before the escalation of the oil barrel, prices continue to rise.
According to updated data from dieselogasolina, the average price of fuels in Spain remains on the upswing. Today, March 9, 2026, regular 95 unleaded petrol sits at around €1.648 per liter, while premium 98 unleaded reaches approximately €1.806 per liter. For diesel, the A-grade fuel is priced at a median of €1.737 per liter, with A+ premium diesel around €1.833 per liter.
These figures represent the current country-wide averages, so prices may vary depending on the autonomous community or specific filling station. However, they provide a general idea of the landscape.
