Ruf btr iii: a hidden gem among porsche tuners

Meet the Ruf BTR III, a rare and potent Porsche tuner that flew under the radar compared to its more famous sibling, the Yellowbird.

Based on the 1989 Porsche 930 Turbo, the BTR III boasted a 3.6-liter flat-six engine producing 446 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This impressive performance was achieved through Ruf's extensive modifications, including a turbocharger upgrade and a bespoke exhaust system.

Only five examples of the BTR III were produced, each with a unique, striking green paint job and luxurious interior trimmed in dark green leather. The interior was relatively sparse, but as with other Ruf models, it featured premium amenities like Recaro seats, a Sony sound system, and power windows.

The BTR III that recently sold at auction for $830,000 is a prime example of Ruf's craftsmanship and performance prowess. With just 51,431 miles on the odometer, this well-maintained example is a hidden gem for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
