Jaguar Type 01 Interior Revealed: Sculptural Design and Hidden Technology

Boris Ladwig, Velocity Drive – Jaguar has unveiled the interior of its all-electric Type 01 grand tourer, marking a significant departure from recent Jaguar designs and embracing a focus on luxury and electric mobility.

A Sculptural and Unique Cabin Design

The interior features a near-sculptural architecture, striking materials, and technology designed to be unobtrusive until needed. A central structure runs longitudinally through the car, separating four individual seats and replacing a traditional horizontal dashboard. Jaguar describes this structure as a 'spine' that defines the cabin's layout.

Driver-Focused and Luxurious

The driver's seat is positioned low and designed to envelop the occupant, creating a sense of enclosure. This design aligns with the Type 01’s high-performance, luxurious grand tourer character, prioritizing comfort over radical sportiness. Jaguar drew inspiration from travertine stone when selecting color and material combinations, incorporating brass accents throughout the central console and door panels.

Seamless Integration of Exterior and Interior

Continuous lines visually connect the hood to the dashboard, blurring the boundaries between the car's exterior and interior. Technology is integrated subtly, with Jaguar emphasizing on-demand systems and hidden elements that appear only when required. A ClearSight Rear View Display, integrated into the base of the windshield, provides rear visibility without diverting the driver's gaze.

Hidden Screens and Advanced Technology

While the dashboard appears solid with a Jaguar-branded relief, it's actually a large screen spanning half the car's width. A smaller vertical screen controls systems like climate control. Thomas Holden, Jaguar's Head of Interior Design, explained that the design philosophy aims to translate the vehicle's exterior presence into the interior space.
