Cupra unleashes customization craze with abt partnership
Cupra is aggressively redefining personalization, offering a surprisingly accessible route to a sportier aesthetic without resorting to their flagship performance models. The Spanish marque has just unveiled the Custom Cupra by ABT package, a collaborative effort with German specialist ABT Sportsline, available for both the Cupra Leon and Formentor.
Sporty style, accessible price point
The core innovation? The ability to transplant the aggressive visual cues of models like the Leon VZ TCR and Formentor VZ5 onto virtually any engine configuration, from base 150hp units to their most potent 333hp variants. This isn’t about exclusivity; it’s about democratizing performance styling.
The official launch, held at the Red Bull Ring in Austria during the Cupra Performance Days event (June 10-13), underscored this commitment. Cupra Racing Factory, responsible for some of the brand’s most demanding competition projects, is meticulously assembling these components by hand, guaranteeing factory-equivalent fit and finish.
Crucially, the Custom Cupra by ABT package is fully homologated, meaning it’s a legitimate upgrade option, available for installation either at the point of purchase or as a retrofit via the official dealer network. This represents a significant step forward in standardization and quality control within the tuning sector.
Leon & formentor – a transformation story
For the Cupra Leon, both five-door and Sportstourer models draw inspiration from the Leon VZ TCR, translating its track-inspired design into street-ready form. The transformation begins with a revised front bumper incorporating a new splitter, followed by distinct side skirts and a rear decklid spoiler. Winglets and a redesigned diffuser with integrated side embellishments complete the visual overhaul.
Larger 19-inch alloy wheels, configurable with wider tires for enhanced performance, are a key element. Subtle details, such as the ABT branding incorporated into the rear spoiler and Dark Chrome Cupra logos, further distinguish the package.
The Leon VZ receives the same treatment, but with bespoke 19-inch Custom alloy wheels in a matte black finish. The 300hp, 325hp and 333hp 2.0 TSI models benefit from the addition of 245mm tires paired with Akebono braking systems, further bolstering their dynamic capabilities.
The Formentor, meanwhile, adopts the aggressive styling cues of the Formentor VZ5, its flagship model. Front Air Curtain Frames, along with revised side mouldings, visually lower the vehicle’s stance. A rear decklid spoiler and C-Flap sills contribute to the overall sporty aesthetic. The package is completed by 19-inch alloy wheels and the signature ABT branding.
The Formentor VZ5 retains the core visual enhancements – spoiler, C-Flaps, Air Curtain Frames, side mouldings, and logos – but swaps the 19-inch wheels for exclusive 20-inch matte black units. Notably, the front and rear splitters are omitted from this variant’s specification.

Every component is painstakingly assembled at the Cupra Racing Factory, upholding the brand’s commitment to quality and performance. The package will be available from July 2026 for the Leon, Sportstourer and Formentor, offering a compelling option for customers seeking to elevate their Cupra’s visual presence.
