Cupra raval plus lands: a €25k electric city car boosts production
Cupra’s initial gamble with the Raval has paid off in a spectacular fashion, sparking a significant surge in sales – most notably in Portugal. Now, the Spanish brand is doubling down with the all-new Raval Plus, offering a more accessible entry point into their electric lineup and potentially reshaping urban mobility.
More power, more range, lower price
The Raval Plus boasts a 135 horsepower electric motor, delivering a claimed range of over 328 kilometers thanks to a brand-new lithium-ferrophosphate (LFP) battery. Impressively, this battery allows for rapid charging – a full 80% charge in just 20 minutes via DC fast charging. But the real story is the pricing: starting from a mere €29,530, and dipping as low as €25,000 with the Plan Auto+ incentives, this represents a substantial reduction in the original Raval’s price point.

Packed with tech and safety
Available in three trim levels – Edge, Drive, and Light & Sound – the Raval Plus isn’t just about affordability. The Edge package bundles a wireless 15W phone charger, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, and a Kessy Advanced keyless entry system. The Drive package adds crucial safety features like Emergency Assist 3.6 and an Intelligent Parking Assistant. And for the audiophiles, the Light & Sound package delivers a truly immersive experience with a 12-speaker Sennheiser system pumping out 475 watts.

A focus on the driver
Despite its electric powertrain, the Raval Plus retains the brand’s signature rebellious spirit and distinctive design. Cupra has clearly prioritized the driver, maintaining the car's focused handling and sporty aesthetics. It’s a deliberate move to establish the Raval as Volkswagen Group’s primary electric city car offering – a direct challenge to competitors like the Kia EV2. And let’s be clear: this compact EV is poised to become a dominant force in European urban centers.

Future potential
While the Raval Plus is slated for release in mid-September, pre-orders are already open, demonstrating considerable consumer interest. Interestingly, Cupra hasn't ruled out the possibility of a smaller-engined variant down the line – a clever maneuver to cater to a wider range of customer preferences. But for now, the Raval Plus is making a powerful statement: electric mobility doesn’t have to break the bank.
